WAIT, WHAT?
LeBron James was 8-for-11 from the floor through three quarters, and by the 6:19 mark of the fourth quarter, the Heat had built a 15-point lead, and Game 2 was in the bag. But not so fast. Dallas didn't bag it, Dirk hit four of his last five shots - including this little piece of magic using his "mallet finger" - and the Mavs snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, again, to even up the series at a game apiece. It was almost perfect payback for what happened in Game 3 of the NBA Finals five years ago. Miami closed that game on a 22-7 run. Dallas closed this game on a 22-5 run. Miami won that game by two, and three more straight as Dallas never woke up. Dallas won this game by two, and now hopes that Miami can't find the world's greatest alarm clock.

THREE FOR ALL
Aubrey Huff went 4-for-5 in a 12-7 Giants win over the Cardinals. Three of those four hits were home runs. He had five home runs all season coming in. But now he's the sixth guy in three weeks with three home runs in one game (see also: Carlos Beltran, Jose Bautista, Jason Giambi, Corey Hart, and Carlos Quentin.) Raise your hand if you thought Barry Bonds was the last Giant with 3 tater trots in one game. Now raise your hand if you knew it was J.T. Snow. Now everybody high-five!

ENDGAMES TO START GAMES?
Maybe the hunger is finally there to get an NFL deal done. Because Judge Arthur Boylan canceled the mediation session scheduled for next week because both sides have already engaged in secret settlement talks this week. And as the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals in St. Louis gets set for oral arguments this morning (11:00 am ET) on the legality of the lockout, a source tells CBSSports.com that a deal could be reached within three weeks. Meanwhile, the lawsuit brought by Tom Brady, et al. carries on. And meanwhile, Tom Brady carries on playing flag football. (Unless he gets locked out of that, too.)

WHO?
So The Big Aristotle is set to officially become history with a retirement news conference this afternoon (1:00 ET, live on SportsCenter). Which begs the question, from him actually, about what exactly we should be calling big Shaquille Rashaun O'Neal going forward. He seems to like The Big 401(k). The Rundown seems to like Social Shaq-urity, even if it's easier to write than it is to say. But what do you like? That 22-5 run for the Mavs actually started with a 20-2 run. Only one other team all season dropped a 20-2 run on the Heat. The Magic did it to them in a 3-point win back on March 3rd. And that run was actually part of a 40-9 run that ended the second of five straight losses for the Heat. So that's probably not a good sign of what's ahead.

One good comeback deserves another. The Mets found themselves down 7-0 to the Pirates. Nothing new there. Except that they scored 9 unanswered runs, and then held on to win 9-8. It's the second-largest comeback win in Mets history. And it's the first win for Jason Isringhausen as a Met since June 8, 1999. That's 12 years (minus 6 days). But The Rundown's baseball-loving cousin will tell you that's not even the longest span between wins for one New York team for one pitcher. Al Leiter once went 16 years (plus 94 days) between wins for the Yankees. That's a long time to wait.

The top four men's seeds made it to today's semifinals of the French Open. Which means that Novak Djokovic puts his 43-match winning streak (41 to start the year) on the line against Roger Federer. The same Roger Federer who stopped Pete Sampras' 31-match winning streak at Wimbledon in 2001. The same Roger Federer who snapped Rafael Nadal's 81-match clay-court winning streak in Hamburg in 2007. Yet despite all of that, Federer still cannot be called the best streaker-stopper in all of tennis.

"He chose to be a hero in my mind, and if that's his flash of fame, that's as good as it's going to get, pal...I'll put it as politically as I can state it: There's no love lost and there shouldn't be."

Them's fightin' words from Giants GM Brian Saban for Scott Cousins. And they're only slightly nicer than the death-threatenin' words Cousins says he's received since his collision with Buster Posey.

The Rundown calls that "curly". The Scripps National Spelling Bee calls that "cymotrichous". And so now we can all call Sukanya Roy (Pronunciation? Soo-kahn-yuh. Country of origin? USA, specifically Pennsylvania, specifically South Abington Township) a "champion". She should take some well-deserved time off. And if she won't, then The Rundown will.
