SPORTSCENTER/RUNDOWN
FOUR SURE THINGS TO KNOW FOR SURE

THE KING'S SECOND COMING
When LeBron first left Cleveland, there was The Decision, the burning of jerseys, and the promises/threats/curses made in Comic Sans. Then, when LeBron first returned to Cleveland, there was the extra security, the extra insults, and the injuy of a 28-point blowout loss for the Cavs.

So for his second return, first Cavs security bounced LeBron's entourage from the garage. Then, LeBron bounced himself back to the locker room before the game and missed the announcement of the starting lineups. And then, despite a triple-double for King James (see: 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists) the Cavs bounced the Heat by 12. It's their first double-digit win of the season. For the record, every other team has at least four. So it's a revenge saga worthy of Return of the Jedi. Or maybe The Empire Strikes Back, depending on your particular appreciation of the Force and Cleveland. Tough to say. The Rundown usually leaves its Star Wars analogies to badminton.

BLAME CANADA
Vancouver's Canucks clinched the top seed in the West with a 3-1 win over Nashville's Predators. So, however incredibly, they will now become the first Canadian team to finish a regular season as the best in the West under the NHL's current playoff format. Or, since 1994. Same difference. And even though Canada is led by a Prime Minister (or, as a constitutional monarchy, by the Queen of England), Vancouver can clinch the Presidents' Trophy on Thursday with a win over the Kings and a regulation loss or overtime loss by the Flyers. So don't expect them to mail it in. At least not yet.

STRAIGHT CASH, HOMEY
On an HBO special that will air later tonight, four former Auburn football players will say that they received cash from boosters from a number of schools. According to the Sports by Brooks website, the players - Chaz Ramsey, Troy Reddick, Stanley McClover and Raven Gray - say that they received money during their time at Auburn. None of the four played there more recently than 2007. "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel" reports that the NCAA declined interview requests, that Auburn declined to comment, and that all schools named in the report have declined any wrongdoing.

LOCKER'S ROOM TO IMPROVE
The University of Washington will host the pro day for quarterback Jake Locker this afternoon. ESPN3.com will carry it live starting at 2:00 ET. Some are curious what Locker stands to gain from this workout, what with his issues with accuracy and whatnot. So it's worth noting that, as we're all waking up this morning, Mel Kiper, Jr. has Locker slated at No. 25 overall in his latest mock draft, staying in Washington and heading to the Seahawks. Meanwhile, in his latest mock draft, Todd McShay completely agrees with Mel. What fun is that? Meanwhile, the draft itself just wishes that both of them would quit mocking it.

THREE RANDOM NUMBERS TO IMPRESS THREE RANDOM PEOPLE
27

Turns out Tuesday was a great day to be a Cavalier. Not only in Cleveland, but also in Charlottesville. As in Virginia, where Will Roberts retired 27 straight batters to throw the first perfect game in school history in the 2,000th win in school history. The 98-pitch, 2-0 triumph over George Washington is just the 19th perfect game in Division I history, and the first since 2002. Virginia is 25-2 on the season. But as for George Washington, what a pity.

440

1-seed Connecticut and 2-seed Texas A&M are the final two into the women's Final Four. For the Huskies, Maya Moore scored 28 points, and that gives her 440 for her career in the tournament. And that gives her second-place on the all-time list (sorry, Diana Taurasi) with first place on that list just 39 points away (watch out, Chamique Holdsclaw). It sure looks like this Mayan warrior is the real deal. But this one sure doesn't.

40+

Bruins forward Shawn Thornton caught a skate above the eye in a 3-0 win over the Blackhawks and needed more than 40 stitches to close the gash. What he didn't need was to hear Chicago's guys jawing at him from their bench as he skated off. In fact, when he heard what they said, he tried to go after their bench himself, despite all of the blood, and had to be held back and helped off of the ice. "Those guys on their team chirp a lot," he said after. "I don't know if it is right when someone's face is half across the other side of their face, but it's a tough game and people have to live with their actions. If you guys ever find out who it is, don't be afraid to send me a Christmas card."

TWO CENTS WORTH
"(He) has an enormous ego with a sense of entitlement that continually invites trouble and makes him believe he is above the law - does not command respect from teammates and always will struggle to win a locker room."

It's not just Mel and Todd who are mocking the NFL Draft. Pro Football Weekly is, too. And it has Cam Newton in the top 15, for better or worse. Mostly worse.

"There's a lockout going on. I need a job. I'm telling you - I need a job."

While Chad Ochocinco has no reservations about playing a reserve role, his Bengals teammate, Dhani Jones, apparently wants to reserve a role as the Aflac duck. At least, if you believe his audition video.
